Hi everyone, and welcome back! Last week on my Home and Garden blog I gave you some tips and things to think about before you start renovating. I said I would be back to give you some more tricks and here I am!
One of the best pieces of advice I received prior to starting our renovations was to think about where I would want the house to be in 5 or 10 years time, and plan for that house. It’s very important to make sure that you don’t get stuck up on trends as they will become outdated very quickly. Instead spend your money wisely on high quality finishes, and accessorise with throwaway trends.
Find the right people
Another really important thing to get right from the beginning is making sure that you have the right people helping you with the renovation. If you’re not planning on being as hands on as we are then you’re most important hiring decision will be getting the right contractor. There’s some great websites which have different contractors which are highly recommended online.
It might not be the most relaxing process to go through but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun and enjoy yourself. Just remember what you’re creating and why you’re going through this process and how great you’re new space will be when everything is finished.
I hope all my tips and tricks help you out if you’re thinking about renovating your house. There’s nothing more exciting than watching as your long awaited ideas and plans come together and that feeling when a room is finally completed is incomparable.
I’m sure there’s a lot I have forgotten to include, so if you have any further advice out there then please get in touch. We’ve still got some months left on our renovation so can’t claim to be experts!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.
